2021 Nazareth Fall Festival
As part of Antonio Alessi’s PopupFoodDrive Eagle Scout Project, Antonio ran a pilot drive at the 2021 Nazareth Fall Festival at the request of the Nazareth Area Food Bank in conjunction with Wrenchtec that generously paid the event vendor fees. Within minutes of setting up the booth at Walnut and S. Main Streets in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Antonio was greeted with donations from an anonymous donor and Wrenchtec representatives.
From start, the festival was packed with visitors exploring the event and enjoying the unseasonably warm October, 16th day after the annual Nazareth Halloween Parade.
Unfortunately by 3:30pm a strong storm front with 45mph wind gusts blew through, driving families to leave and effectively ending the event hours early.
The weather might have dampened the event, but not the spirit of dedicated donors.
In spite of the weather, the food drive met its goals of testing the PopupFoodDrive program, learning valuable information about running an event at a festival. Most importantly, the event collected 114 pounds of food and $48 in cash donations for the food bank. Overall the event was a success. Thanks to everyone for their help!
